Winning Wednesday: Leadership Series

PART THREE

Leaders are Levelers!

Picture hanging in our house is a major production.  I’m the one responsible for hanging any item that is displayed on our walls.  Every picture that is hanging on our walls must be precise!  I’m obsessed with hanging the picture in the center of the wall and the center of the picture must be an exact height from the floor!  I admit – I have a problem!

When the time comes to hang pictures, I get out the pencil, notepad, tape measure, picture hanging anchors, nails, and of course the level!  What purpose does the level serve?  Well, the level is the final touch after the picture is hung.  The level determines if the picture is actually straight when looking at it.  The level tells me if the picture is “precise,” not crooked or out of place.

Several years ago, when we were living in Virginia, a significant earthquake occurred while we were at work.  Upon arriving home, we found items had fallen off of shelves, crooked pictures, and other items had fallen from the walls.  However, those items/pictures that were hung with an anchor, remain straight and steadfast!

What does it mean for leaders to be “levelers”?  Ever seen a leader get bent out of shape?  Ever been on the receiving end of a leader who lost their composure?  Have you witnessed a leader who caved under pressure?

Leaders who are levelers don’t get bent out of shape – their compass remains straight.  Leaders are forged when the pressure rises.  They remain calm, steadfast, and focused.  Levelers stay true to their character and to their calling.  They are anchored to a solid foundation!

Are you a “leveler”?  If not, you can be!  Start today by finding The Anchor!  Trust me, others are watching to see how your “picture” is hung.
