“Yes” the First Time

“But the Lord said, …”.  [Acts 9:15]

The above reference is in response to Ananias’ argument with God, who had instructed him to go see some guy named Saul.  Saul had a “reputation” for killing people who associated themselves with Jesus.  Ananias, a follower of Jesus, knew all about Saul and the terror and havoc he caused.  Yet, God told Ananias to go see Saul.  God told Ananias exactly the street and house number where he would find Saul.  I get scared just reading about what is certain to happen…but it didn’t!

Ever argued with God about something He was asking you to do?  I’m an expert in this field!   There have been countless times I put up a very solid defense (in my wise opinion) of why I shouldn’t do it.  “God, this is a bad idea!”  As “strange” as it may seem, I’ve never won the argument.

Cathy and I loved living in the Dallas / Fort Worth area.  We were involved in our church, we absolutely loved our small group of young married couples, and we had an incredible network of close friends.  We had zero plans to move.

“But the Lord said…”.

Seriously, God, you want us to move to Oklahoma City?  For what?  This is a bad idea! Maybe I didn’t hear you correctly!

“But the Lord said…”

Fast forward…here we are in OKC!  And you know what?  It is the BEST idea, not a bad idea!  Imagine that!  I’m still a work in progress; God isn’t finished with me.  Maybe one day I’ll just say “YES” the first time, because every time HE speaks, it is always for the BEST!

Expect God’s best!  Just say “YES” the first time.
