Who Is This Man? Pt. II

“And Gehazi was telling the king about the time Elisha had brought a boy back to life. At that very moment, the mother of the boy walked in to make her appeal to the king about her house and land.”  [2 Kings 5:8]

Seven years have passed since Elisha, with God’s power, brought this woman’s only son back to life.  After this miraculous healing, Elisha warned her to move to a different country because there was going to be a severe famine. The woman obeyed. She and her son are now returning to their homeland. As a result, she must appear before the king to appeal the right to get her property back after being gone for the last seven years. As she entered the king’s court, Gehazi (special assistant to Elisha) was telling the king about many miraculous things Elisha had done with God’s help. Gehazi detailed the time Elisha brought the widow’s son back to life. As he was describing this miracle, the widow and her son appeared in the king’s court “at that very moment.” What a coincidence!  Or was it?

The year was 1989. I was just beginning my dream job in federal law enforcement. Totally focused on my career, I was not even thinking about dating anyone. On a routine Wednesday evening, I decided to visit my best friend at his church about 15 minutes away from the church I normally attended. Little did I know that on this very evening, I would meet a young lady who “happened” to be visiting her relatives at the same church. Two people visiting a church neither one of them attended, meet for the first time, and three years later are married!  Yeah I guess some would call that mere coincidence or good luck. But, is our life really governed by luck or chance occurrences?

We all experience situations in our lives which certainly seem coincidental; however, what if it is more than just fate, luck, or the stars aligning properly?

What if there is someone who cares about every single detail of your life and has it so meticulously planned, that it can only be explained as providential?

Who is responsible for the events of your life?
