No Chance—It’s Dead

“Then He asked me, ‘Son of man, can these bones become living people again?’”     [Ezekiel 37:3]

Ezekiel is a prophet of God from a long time ago.  God is having a conversation with him.  After showing Ezekiel a valley of dried out bones (not skeletons, just bones), God asks him the above question.  Ezekiel doesn’t really know how to respond so he says something like, “Only you know that, God.” 

Guess what happens next?  God instructs Ezekiel to begin speaking to these dried up bones.  Imagine having a conversation with just a pile of bones!  One thing is for certain: it would be a one-sided dialogue!  However, something miraculous happens!  As Ezekiel speaks to these crusty old bones, they begin to rattle and shake!  Then, they begin to come together and form skeletons.  Ezekiel watches as muscles and tendons attach themselves to the bones.  Then skin is formed, but they have no life!  Then God commands Ezekiel to speak breath into these “dead bodies.”  When he does, breath came into their lungs!  Then read what happens next:

“They all came to life and stood up on their feet – a great army.”  [Ezekiel 37:10]

Only God could perform such a miracle of restoring life to something that’s dead!

Is there something in your life that you have declared “dead?”  A relationship?  Your marriage?  Your finances?  Your job, or maybe the chance at finding new employment?  Your health?  Your dreams?  Your hopes?  Your plans?  Your self-worth?

May I remind you that nothing is dead in God’s economy!  He has the last word and death is not in His vocabulary!  Try talking to the One who makes the impossible, possible!  Give your seemingly “dead” situation to Him and allow Him to breathe LIFE into it!  Go ahead!  What have you got to lose?  The God who breathes life into dead situations is waiting for you!
